Bio- Lee Milo........ High Impact Reggae Music

International reggae artist Lee Milo & his backing band Tishan have become synonymous with quality reggae rhythms delivered with vibrant style and showmanship. Currently based in Miami , Florida , Lee Milo ’s musical sound is based on solid “yard” rhythms, with lyrics embracing a variety of international themes including: world politics, social issues, global change, love & unity. An acclaimed drummer in his own right, Lee Milo’s unique vocal style combined with his intricate rhythm mixes, create a blend of international reggae & world beat sound.

Lee Milo originates from The Mt. Salem quarter of Montego Bay , Jamaica . He began drumming as a child in the Boys Club of Jamaica, and later with the Salvation Army Band. After completing High school in Montego Bay and training as an electrical repair tradesman, Lee Milo was swayed to the calling of the Music and began working as an entertainer on the Norwegian Caribbean Cruise Lines. He immigrated to the United States in early 1980 and founded his first band Tishan in 1982 in Daytona, Florida. Tishan quickly grew in status to be rated  the “Leading” reggae band in South Florida,  receiving many peoples choice awards from 1982 thru 1988. Lee Milo began recording during this time on his own Tishan  record label. In 1982 he produced his first singles, “Forward Natty Dread” and “ Jamaica Rhythm and Blues” featuring Lee Milo on drums & vocals  and Colvin Fields on guitar. The success of these first recordings brought about the 1983 release of “ What Goes Up” recorded at the Ocean Sounds Studio in Florida featuring Lee Milo on drums & vocals , and  David Shelly on guitar.

In 1989 Lee Milo released his first solo album “Positive Movements” on Rooney Records Label. This work, arranged by Lee Milo, Keyboardist Gary “Pepe" Mayonne, and legendary guitarist Ernie Ranglin, features the blazing brass of Tony Green - Saxaphone, Everol Wray - Trombone & Everald Gayle-Trumpet of the Lloyd Parks and We the People Band.

1990 brought the release of “Mommy Blue”, a single on the Gong Sounds Label, revitalizing this previously popular song. The success of this single led to its release in music video format. “Mommy Blue” video, directed by Douglas Thompson and produced by Tishan Productions, Inc., ranked in the top ten video chart on Caribbean Satellite Network.

In 1993 “Luv-U” was released featuring Lee Milo and guest artist D.J. Honorable. “Bittersweet ”, & “Lookout” were also singles released in the same year, impacting the Jamaican, European & College Music Markets. Lee Milo co-produced “The Formula” and “I Still Love You” with reggae’s master song writer and performer Hopeton Lindo. Lindo’s creative songwriting skills have achieved many “hits” including “Temptress”, “ Telephone Love” and “Champion Lover”. “I Still Love You” was released as a music video, which led Lee Milo to join the T.V. Music Networks of CSN, syndicated Rock-U-Macallit, and Reggae Rhythms in several guest “VJ” appearances and TV performances in 1993 &1994.

“Breakdown the Walls ”, Lee Milo’s latest Full CD on the Anle label, features 11 tracts including “I Still Love You", "Mommy Blue", "The Formula", "Informer", "Break Down the Walls", and "Stranded”. The tracks combine hip hop, roots rock, lovers rock, and pop crossover rhythms appealing to a broad based listening market. Currently on the drawing board is an up coming CD release, a film sound track production and a debut acting role for Lee Milo in a motion picture, as well as continued International Touring. Additional harmonies, jazz and dance hall vocals by lead guitarist Duwayne Hoilett & keyboardist Peter Williamson, deliver an undeniable combination of contemporary musical versatility to this charismatic group.

Lee Milo With Shyloks , a Sun Cloud Record Release of 4 tracks on CD including "Bond your Belly", "Rhythm In Style", "Addicted", and "Rhythm Run Wild" is Lee Milo’s most current release.

  • Lee Milo has also worked with Miami ’s Leading Show Band, WAVE Band; Coastal Delaware’s Island Boyz , Delaware ’s Nazarites, and Miami’s No Apology Band.

 

  • Lee Milo is featured in a Collaboration with Renowned Jazz Musician Jaco Pastorius, who is best known for his work with Weather Report and his tenure with Joni Mitchell on 4 album releases. Lee Milo plays drums on the Good Morning Annya” Track on “Punk Jazz: The Jaco Pastorius Anthology

Lee Milo has actively performed throughout the United States & Mexico with his backing band Tishan, during the 1990’s to the present. He has played various Venues & Festivals.

Founded in 1982 by Joe Isadore and Lee Milo, Tishan established Sunday Night Reggae Sessions at the legendary Ft. Lauderdale , Florida venue, The Musicians Exchange Café.

Over the next 7 years Tishan’s popularity quickly grew to national & international touring status. In 1987 Lee Milo and Tishan band recorded there first album "Tishan Reggee Music" in Ft. Lauderdaue, Florida. This 8-track release of original music and lyrics became a reggee sensation.

Tishan ’s unique sound, is easily recognizable by their original work combined with the talented musicianship of the band members & singer Lee Milo’s smooth lead vocals . Tishan has performed in the US , Central America , Mexico and the Caribbean .

They have opened for many well known International acts including Jimmy Cliff, The Clash, Dennis Brown, and have backed many big name Reggae Artists such as Freddy McGregor, Carlene Davis, Sugar Minott, Tyrone Taylor, General Trees, Charlie Chaplan, Michael Palmer, and Delroy Wilson,Tiger, Hopeton Lindo
